NZ Hawks International Cup Schedule

The New Zealand Hawks will have a busy schedule of matches and events at the International Cup. Find out more below:

Wednesday 6th August:

New Zealand Hawks vs Ormond FC. Practice match for the International Cup. VAFA Headquarters, Sportscover Arena, Elsternwick Park, 162 Glenhuntly Road. Match starts at 6.30pm.

Thursday 7th August:

Visit to St Kilda Football Club. Training and use of Linen House facilities between 10.00am and 4.00pm. This will be a great insight into a club that has embraced New Zealand with their commitment towards playing AFL fixtures within New Zealand.

Friday 8th August:

Visit to Hawthorn Football Club. Tour of the Hawthorn facilities presented by Recruiting Manager Mark McKenzie and International Rookie players Shem Tatupu and Kurt Heatherley. Training session will follow tour.

Saturday 9th August:

Official Launch of the 2014 AFL International Cup, Federation Square. Beginning at 1.00pm, the 2014 AFL International Cup will be launched, followed by a Parade of Nations to the MCG. The teams will then watch the AFL match between the Hawthorn Hawks and Melbourne Demons.

Sunday 10th August:

New Zealand Hawks vs Sweden. Game 1 for New Zealand of the International Cup. Western Oval, Royal Park, 11.30am. A live stream will be available for this match.

Wednesday 13th August:

New Zealand Hawks vs China. Game 2 for New Zealand. St Kilda Football Club, 151 East Road, Seaford. 13.30pm.

Thursday 14th August:

Training at Blackburn FC. Morton Park, 3.30pm. Training will be followed by a dinner with the hosts from Blackburn FC, in advance of Saturday’s AFL International Cup match which will serve as a curtain raiser for a Blackburn FC fixture.

Saturday 16th August:

New Zealand Hawks vs USA. Game 3 for New Zealand. Montrose Recreation Reserve. 12.30pm. This match will be a curtain-raiser for the Eastern Football League Senior match between Blackburn FC and Montrose Football Club.

Tuesday 19th August:

AFL International Cup semi-finals. Qualifying teams, venues and times to be confirmed.

Wednesday 20th August:

Recovery session at Waverley Park. The Hawthorn Football Club will provide use of their facilities from 9.00-11.00am.

Thursday 21st August:

Visit to the St Kilda Football Club. The New Zealand Hawks will be visiting from 9.00am onwards, utilising the Linen House facilities. Training, hot colds and lunch will be provided by St Kilda to give players a better understanding of how an AFL club operates.

AFL Coaching Course and AFL Umpiring Course. Open to all participants at the AFL Victoria Offices, Parkville. Time to be confirmed.

Friday 22nd August:

New Zealand Hawks vs South Africa: 1.00pm, Ransford Oval, 1.00pm. 3rd place playoff match. A live stream of this match will be provided here: http://www.afl.com.au/global/aflic14/streaming and will begin at 3.00pm NZT.

Saturday 23rd August:

AFL International Cup Grand Final: Ireland vs PNG. MCG, 4.50pm. A live stream will be available of this match. This match will be the curtain raiser to the AFL match between Hawthorn and Geelong.
