05 Oct, 2015
New Zealand Volleyball representative Kahurangi Robinson will play in next year’s highly anticipated AFL New Zealand Premiership.
Robinson, who hails from Rotorua represented New Zealand in the sport of Volleyball at last year’s Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China and has also been involved with U19 and U21 NZ teams. When presented with the opportunity to be a part of the brand new AFL competition, Robinson grabbed it with both hands.
“AFL has all the aspects of many different sports which is why I love it. Having a Volleyball background, I am keen to take on the challenge that the Premiership will bring”
At 18 years of age, Robinson is a star on the rise and after discovering the sport of AFL at Western Heights High School, he wanted to learn more.
Robinson was involved with the AFL Zealand National Combine in 2014, where he holds the record for the Vertical Leap of 81cm. With his aerial ability and a height of 1.93 metres, Robinson will be well utilised as a dominating Ruckman which he says is his favourite position.
With the AFL National Draft starting to build momentum, Robinson will be a welcome addition to three senior categories that include players born 1997 and older.
