09 Oct, 2015
Wellington based trio Waylon Baker, Sam McKenzie and Stan Chung have all be confirmed as participants in the AFL New Zealand National Draft in preparation for the 2016 AFL New Zealand Premiership Competition commencing in February next year.
All three have a background in New Zealand representative teams but all come with different skills that will benefit their respective teams.
Baker with the North City Demons club, is a fierce defender known for his uncompromising attitude and at only 19 years of age, is a quality addition to draft ranks.
Stan Chung is well known in both Canterbury and Wellington competitions, first representing New Zealand in 2011. His leadership and ‘never say die’ attitude will be a sought after commodity. His on ball experience will also be a great asset when developing the young talent he is expected to link with.
Sam McKenzie also has a stake in to regional competitions with ties to both Mt Roskill Saints in Auckland and North City Demons in Wellington. He is a marking forward/midfielder whose contesting marking skill provides him with the ability to play against much bigger defensive opponents and still provide potency with his goal kicking ability.
