Western Crows retain exciting small forwards

17 Nov, 2017

The Western Crows have announced that they will add Auckland based players Ben Armstrong and Steph Tabaillou to their retained players list for the 2018 AFL New Zealand Premiership.

The players have been retained through Category 1 of the Retained Players List (RPL): Retention of Auckland based players who have not played for the New Zealand Senior team over the past 12 months.

Ben Armstrong

Former Rising Star award winner Ben Armstrong will return to the Western Crows in 2018.

Originally hailing from the small Northland town of Moerewa, Ben is now studying at AUT University in Auckland.

His pace on the footy field means he can swing the momentum of the game in the blink of an eye.

Ben has been involved in the past two New Zealand Under 18 tours to Melbourne and has the goal of one day playing for the National Senior side.

The former Bay of Islands College student made a name for himself in 2014 when he broke the Australasian record of 7.64 seconds for the agility test at the AFL New Zealand National combine.

Steph Tabaillou

Aucklander and University Blues player Steph Tabaillou has been retained by the Western Crows.

The small forward was one of the Crows most consistent players during the 2017 season and proved handy in front of goal taking out the leading goal kicker award for the premiership side.

His determination to get his hands on the football is up there with the best in the competition and will combine well with Ben Armstrong in the forward line.
