Suns snare Bailey as they retain Rogers and White

AFL New Zealand Premiership side, the Northern Suns have announced the signing of former Central Giants half back Chris Bailey for the 2019 season.

 

The Suns used a priority pick to secure Bailey under the ruling of the Retained Player List (RPL) Category 3, stating:

Each Premiership side will be able to retain up to five Auckland based players (if a Premiership side cannot supply the required amount of players from the 2018 season, a Priority Draft Pick will be allocated to rectify this.)

The Suns retained the services of Pete Rogers and Josh White.

Pete Rodgers 

‘Pistol’ Pete Rodgers is the heart and soul of the Northern Suns.

Having been an inaugural squad member, Rogers will enter into his fourth year in 2019.

Rodgers showed that he can foot it with the best players in the country and made it tough for his opponents utilising his strong defensive tackling coupled with excellent communication skills.

The University Blues defender has been a key player for the Suns every season and will work closely with new head coach James Bowden in getting the Suns their maiden Premiership.

 

Josh White

Josh White has been retained by the Northern Suns for the 2019 AFL New Zealand Premiership.

Currently playing for the North Shore Tigers in the Auckland AFL, White spends most of his time playing off the wing who can move into the forward line.

With sound knowledge of the game, Josh will look to make a big impact on the national competition in 2019.

 

Chris Bailey

Midfielder Chris Bailey will be a part of the Northern Suns set up in 2019 after spending the previous three seasons with the Central Giants.

The 31 year old is a hard running midfielder who can be utilised off the half back flank.

His ability to link with the forwards is exceptional and this will play a key role for the side chasing their first Premiership

Bailey plays for the University Blues in the Auckland AFL and will link with new Captain Ben Hick.
