Assistant Coaches named for 2019 Premiership
07 Nov, 2018
All four teams in the AFL New Zealand Premiership have announced their assistant coach in preparation for the 2019 season.
Central Giants – Adam Clarke
Canterbury based Adam Clarke has been announced as the assistant coach of the Central Giants for the 2019 Premiership.
Currently with University Cougars in Christchurch, Clarke also volunteers his time developing players at the Youth competition.
Having previously played and coached for the Chritchurch Bulldogs, Adam has a strong relationship with Izaak Williams.
Northern Suns – Adem Manderovic
Adem Manderovic will be a part of the Northern Suns coaching setup in 2019.
Adem is the current coach of the Mid Canterbury Eagles in the Canterbury AFL and is always looking to develop his coaching.
Manderovic will link with fellow Canterbury based coach James Bowden as the Sun’s aim for their first Premiership.
Southern Saints – Craig Goodhue
Auckland based Craig Goodhue will return to the Southern Saints for the 2019 season as Assistant Coach under Andrew Congalton.
In 2016, Goodhue steered the Waitakere Magpies to the Auckland AFL Premiership as they went undefeated through the entire season. At the beginning of 2017, Goodhue tasted Premiership glory again with the Southern Saints.
Craig excels at developing and managing youth players and with a number of young talent coming through in this year’s AFL New Zealand National Draft, expect the 2018 Southern Saints draftees to be dominating on the field from Round 1 on February 17th.
Western Crows – Sean Mayes
Sean Mayes will make his debut as Assistant Coach for the Western Crows in 2019.
Currently the Coach of the North Shore Tigers in the Auckland AFL, Mayes is also involved in coaching at the Youth competition.
He will link up with Chris Mundell and will put plans in place to win back the Premiership trophy.
