Talking points: Round 4
14 Mar, 2019
Each week during the 2019 AFL New Zealand Premiership, each week we will delve into some of the key talking points from the previous round.
In this week’s talking points we look at the Suns and how attacking footy can turn their season around, how the Saints have a well balanced squad and beware the sleeping Giants!
Attack! Attack! Attack!
With the Northern Suns still without a win so far this season, do they need to revert back to their 2017 game plan and focus on attacking footy which saw them amass a record 809 points that season?
They have a number of highly skillful midfielders and forward that could just spark them into life in the second half of the season.
Saints squad balance on point
The Saints have been a revelation so far this season and it has been their well balanced squad which has shocked the competition.
With terrific defence, a highly experienced midfield and a threatening forward line, can the Saints go all the way and win their second Premiership?
Beware the sleeping Giants
Reigning Premiers, the Central Giants have had a slow start to the season and currently sit in third place on the ladder.
They are one big win away from a spot in the top 2 and once they get going, the remaining 3 teams should be aware of their capability of blowing a game open as they look to win back to back titles.
Looking ahead to round 5 this weekend…
In the 10 matches played between the Suns and the Saints in the competitions history, the Suns have only won 3 of those encounters.
The Saints have their tails up but with Patrick Landy and Ben Hick back to full fitness, can the Suns break their hoodoo and claim their first win of the season in round 5?
