Sun’s retain King and Scarf-Matthews

21 Nov, 2019

AFL New Zealand Premiership side, the Northern Suns have announced that they have retained Heta Scarf-Matthews and Ahku King for the 2020 Premiership season.

The pair were retained under Category 2 of the Retained Players List.

RPL 2 is the Retention of Auckland based players.

Heta Scarf-Matthews

Formerly based in Nelson and Otago, NZ senior squad member Heta Scarf-Matthews now resides in Auckland and will play his fifth season with the Northern Suns in the 2020 Premiership.

With a background playing Soccer, the Otago representative reads the play extremely well and is tough around the contest.

The 2016 AFL New Zealand U18 Player of the year will be called upon to step up his game to another level in 2020.

Ahku King

Manurewa Raiders star Ahku King burst onto the Premiership scene in 2019 and has been rewarded with a spot on the Suns roster for 2020.

A rather unknown in the AFL community, King produced some stunning football throughout the season and was selected as part of the U18 NZ squad to travel to Melbourne.

With more confidence in his game, expect King to do big things in 2020.
