Giants snare Wellington big man
22 Nov, 2019
The Central Giants have utilised a priority pick ahead of this year’s National Draft to secure the signing of Wellington based Will Kempt for the 2020 AFL New Zealand Premiership.
The Giants have used a Priority pick to secure the tall forward under the ruling of the Retained Player List (RPL) Category 2, stating:
Each Premiership side will be able to retain up to three regional based players (if a Premiership side cannot supply the required amount of players from the 2019 season, a Priority Draft Pick will be allocated to rectify this.)
The Central Giants will look to utilise Will as a centre half forward where he can deliver the deliver the ball into James McKenzie.
Kempt has been apart of the New Zealand U18 programme for the past 3 years and broke into the senior side in 2018 after a strong Premiership season with the Suns.
