All games will be played at North Harbour Stadium on Sundays at 11.30am and 1.45pm with Round 1 commencing February 11th 2018.

9 Rounds will be played every Sunday onwards finishing on April 15th 2018

Training Schedule

It is important to understand that training opportunities are available throughout New Zealand regardless of your location.

Training is due to commence in the week commencing Monday November 28th 2016. In some cases, there will be participants who have Regional League commitments to be completed in this week and plans will be made accordingly to assist.

Phase 1 Training November 28th to December 18th 2016

There will be four weeks of preseason sessions prior to the Christmas break period. This also will include a fitness assessment featuring a 3 kilometre time trial. All players MUST complete a 3km time trial prior to December 10th and complete the google form with the time trial information. Click here for form

Suggested venues and scheduled sessions with strength and conditioning coaches will be forwarded to all participants. Feel free to show initiative and complete the process with a partner.

 

In Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin preseason training prior to Christmas will be held in conjunction with the NPC team training. Post NPC the training venues/dates and times may differ so please read carefully. Dates and times are in the email below.

 

Phase 2 Training December 19th 2016 to January 15th 2017

Each player will be provided with a fitness programme to undertake over the Christmas period during a 30 day, no contact period. Fitness assessments will be carried out at the return to normal training.

The training programme will be supplied and explained during Phase 1 of training.

Phase 3 Training January 16th to Feb 11th 2017

A further four weeks of preseason training will take place prior to the commencement of the AFL New Zealand Premiership scheduled on February 12th 2017. Fitness testing will be revisited for assessment.

Phase 4 Training Feb 12th to April 9th 2017

Training will continue throughout the AFL New Zealand Premiership season with weekly sessions for its duration. Those not participating in a specific round of scheduled weekend matches will be provided with an alternative session as a substitute. Sunday or weekend trainings will commence for those who are not rostered to play.

A link has been provided highlighting training venues and dates for each region.

If you are located in another region for any of the training sessions, during any phase it is expected you will attend that regions training.

Regional Training Venues

Those based in regional areas including Bay of Plenty, Waikato, Northland and Queenstown will have training programmes developed to assist in training remotely. Where possible, specific coaching staff will be appointed to assist with training and venues in remote areas. Please note that AFL New Zealand with be in touch with you regarding the training requirements with you as they are confirmed.

Contacts for others in your region or vicinity will be provided to assist with transport, training and coaching resource.
