Secondary School Combines
The aim of the Combine programme is to allow participants to take an active role in measuring their performance and undertaking the necessary ingredients to improve on initial results.
Their involvement in monitoring results, performance and improvement can lead to a life time of association with sport.
The combines can take place at any time during the school year. Participants are tested in the areas of skill, fitness and agility and have the opportunity to be guided through the processes necessary to improve.
Results and rankings for both schools and individuals will be made available online in the near future.
Regional combines take place in the major centres throughout New Zealand as part of the AFL New Zealand High Performance Programme.
Those selected to attend include;
- Secondary school students involved with school combine testing and the Hawks Cup Competition
- Those involved with the AFL New Zealand High Performance Programme
- Individuals selected from local AFL 9’s and club competitions likely to represent New Zealand at U15/U16/U17/U18 and Senior Level
- Talented athletes from a variety of other sporting backgrounds.
The best performing athletes identified at the Regional Combines are selected to attend the National Combine. Athletes are tested in front of representatives from a majority of the AFL clubs and are exposed to recruitment opportunities including International Scholarships that in turn can lead to an AFL career.
