The initial order of the AFL New Zealand National Draft has been determined, with the Northern Suns receiving the Number 1 pick.
The National Draft will take place on Tuesday the 22nd of November commencing at 7.30pm and will be broadcast live on Twitter. Make sure you follow us @AFLNZ to keep up to date with all the selections.
2016 AFL New Zealand National Draft round selections:
Round 1 Draft Picks (Priority Pick – Any player from any category can be selected)
Northern Suns, Central Giants, Southern Saints, Western Crows.
Round 2 Draft Picks (Priority Pick – Any player from any category can be selected)
Central Giants, Northern Suns, Western Crows, Southern Saints.
Round 3 Draft Picks (Australian based players) Category 6 Wild Card Entry
Southern Saints, Western Crows, Northern Suns, Central Giants.
Round 4 Draft Picks (Auckland Senior players) Category 1 Auckland Senior
Western Crows, Southern Saints, Central Giants, Northern Suns.
Round 5 Draft Picks (Regional based players) Category 2 Regional Senior
Northern Suns, Central Giants, Southern Saints, Western Crows
Round 6 Draft Picks (Auckland Senior players) Category 1 Auckland Senior

Additional players who are not involved in initial playing lists and draft selection will be added over the next two months through the following processes;
- Ongoing talent identification carried out through local, regional and national competitions
- Those players currently playing in regional leagues and yet to be listed
- Academy players for development purposes
- Overseas players dependent on availability
