2017 AFL New Zealand Draft

The 2017 AFL New Zealand National Draft will take place November 21st and will see all players placed into one of five list categories. Highlighting the logistics of the competition and scheduling at QBE Stadium, the list categories are determined by national representation, age and regions throughout New Zealand.

 

The five categories involved are: 

 

Category 1: AFL New Zealand Academy Graduates
Category 2: Auckland based New Zealand Representative
Category 3: Regionally based New Zealand Representative
Category 4: Auckland based players
Category 5: Regionally based players

 

Josh Morgan-Ranui was selected number 1 by the Southern Saints in last year’s draft

The National Draft pick order will be released closer to the evening.

All four AFL New Zealand Premiership Head Coaches will link together as they look to commence work on their respective player rosters for the 2018 AFL New Zealand Premiership commencing February 11th at QBE Stadium.

The draft will be live via social media.
