2017 AFLNZ Premiership Round 1 Team of the Week

The Team of the week for Round 1 of the 2017 AFL New Zealand Premiership has been announced.

 

This weeks team features a mix of youth and experience as Pete Rodgers (Suns), Josh Cunliffe (Saints) and Craig Morgan (Giants) accompany Joel Brown (Suns), Alastair Maisey (Crows) and Max Hicks (Giants) in the backline.

In the midfield, Suns number one draft pick Peter Halstead lived up to his billing with an outstanding game in the ruck along with debutant Jackson Clince who was awarded best on ground for the Suns. Development player Jake Tucker put his hand up as one to watch this season as he looked at home on the wing for the Giants and deserves his spot in the side.

Joey Alesich-Tamariki (Crows) continued his 2016 form as he makes gains a spot in the forward line with Jordan Drinkall who stole the show for the Suns up front kicking four goals for his team.
