The AFL New Zealand National Draft will see all players placed into one of seven list categories.
Category 1 involves players based in the Auckland region born in 1997 or older. The region holds the biggest population in New Zealand and will be the host of the Premiership at New Zealand’s newest AFL Oval at North Harbour Stadium.
Brandon Sucu represents the North Shore Tigers in the local Auckland competition as well as having represented the U16 Hawks at the Inaugural Oceania Cup in Fiji and also at U20 level. The tall defender has aspirations of debuting for the Senior Hawks and his trait of being strong in the air will help his cause along the way.
University Blues midfielder Ben Hick is a fast skillful player on the footy field. Hick has gained a wealth of experience over the years being involved in the AFL New Zealand High Performance Programme and is itching to take the field in the AFL New Zealand Premiership in February 2016.
Josh Copeland is a solid defender down in the backline. Copeland has represented New Zealand at both U16 and U18 level along with playing for the Waitakere Magpies in the Auckland league. Josh has a big involvement in the AFL New Zealand Youth competition as role of coach and is always eager to learn all aspects of the game.
Mitch Ryan first represented the New Zealand Hawks at U16 level in Fiji where the team were crowned champions of Oceania. Also hailing from the North Shore, Ryan plays for the North Shore Tigers and spent two years in Melbourne playing for the Frankston Dolphins. He is also a representative of the North Harbour Rugby reserve grade side.
