Central Shakers announce inaugural coaching staff

Peter Geale has been announced as the inaugural head coach of the Central Shakers for the 2022 Women’s Premiership season.

Head coach of the Magpies in 2021, Peter has been involved with AFL for several years.

From Wellington, Peter has played with local team, the North City Demons and assisted with coaching at local level through to managing regional youth programmes.

Geale has spent two years in a coaching role with the AFLNZ Academy Level 1 side along with his involvement with the NZ Kahu Youth Girls for several years.

Fran Serrano has been named as the assistant coach alongside Peter and brings a wealth of experience.

Fran first became involved with AFL in New Zealand by offering his services to facilitate the AFLNZ Regional combine in Auckland.

Over the past few years, his involvement in the community has grown with his three children (Sebastian, Valentina and Max) now all playing AFL.

Fran commits his time to help out with the AFL New Zealand Youth Competition, Academy and most recently, the AFL New Zealand Men’s and Women’s Premiership.

The Shakers will come up against the Northern Storm and Western Ravens in the 2022 competition, starting on February 13th in Auckland.
