Dave Keelty has been appointed as Coaching Advisor for the 2016 AFL New Zealand Premiership season.
Dave is the Community Coaching Manager with Aktive Auckland Coaching Talent Development and Harbour Sport.
Aktive Auckland Coaching and Harbour Sport aims to streamline the outcomes around coaching and development in the Auckland region. This has grown into a significant resource and one that Sport NZ utilises regularly on a national scale.
Keelty assists in running forums for Auckland’s regional sports organisations and this is a chance for the coaches to network and the receive professional development.
His ideal environment, is one where the players feel they have ownership over key values and behaviours implemented during training, games and off field activities. Coaches should understand an athletes age, maturity and commitment and this can lead to a learning experience where the ownership of culture, training intensity and behavioural standards are formed.
With so many talented younger players participating in the AFL New Zealand Premiership, Dave’s guidance will lead to a quality environment for both coaching staff and players associated with the new competition.
