Former Kahu Captain headlines the Women’s draft

Jolyn Collins is likely to be one of the top picks at the Women’s Premiership national draft on Thursday, December 9th.

Jolyn is a pioneer for Women’s AFL in NZ being the first New Zealander to play in the Australian Youth Girls Championships where she represented Tasmania in 2016.

Collins was the Co-Captain for the NZ Kahu during the 2017 New Zealand Youth Girls campaign in Wellington and has terrific leadership skills.

More recently, Collins played for the Magpies in the 2021 Women’s Premiership, where she made a big impact.

The Women’s Premiership will take place in conjunction with the current Men’s Premiership and will begin on February 13th, 2022.

The competition will provide the perfect environment for girls transitioning from the Youth programme and local league formats to senior football with higher numbers involved.  The Women’s Premiership will feature Women from Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington and Dunedin. It is the next step in finalising the pathway for women to participate in AFL within New Zealand.

The draft will start at 8.00pm via our social media channels.
