Former Southern Saints Captain, Michael Boyce, has made the move to the Western Crows, where he will take up a position in the leadership team alongside Shane Leat and Will Dickinson in 2022.

Boyce captained the Saints for five years, leading them to two Premierships during his time in charge.

With the relocation of the Southern Saints to Christchurch, the displacement of quality former Saints players from Auckland and Wellington was always going to be a bonus for other Premiership franchises. The new look AFL New Zealand Premiership competition in 2022, sees Boyce make the move to the Crows following the decision that the Saints will be based out of Canterbury for the upcoming season.

Boyce has a quality AFL career within New Zealand, Representing New Zealand at the 2014 and 2017 International Cup as well as campaigns against South Pacific and AFL Academy.

Michael’s association with New Zealand teams can be traced back to junior age groups more than a decade ago.
