The Northern Suns have appointed Keegan McCauley to the position of Head of Football as they commence preparations for an assault on the 2022 AFL New Zealand Premiership title.
Having recently named Brandon Sucu as the Suns Captain for the upcoming season, McCauley will oversee AFL New Zealand engagement, recruitment, coaching, player and game day management, with his position certain to drive a new level of professionalism to the Auckland based team.
Away from football McCauley works for sporting event coordinator, The Ironman Group following on from his previous role of Competitions Manager with New Zealand Football.
McCauley will place an emphasis on training continuity as a key element on advancing the Suns fortunes.
“In previous years, our recruitment and list inclusion of quality players from around New Zealand has resulted in multiple training hubs and this has resulted in under performance on game day for the Suns. This has been difficult for players and coaches and will change in 2022.”
