Southern Saint Reyne Westbury wins Golden Boot

Keep up to date with the latest AFL New Zealand Premiership Stats with the leading goal kickers, fastest goal, and best attacking/defensive teams updated weekly.

Southern Saint forward Reyne Westbury has held off a spirited fightback by Joey Alesich-Tamariki to become the competitions first Golden Boot winner.

Otago based Westbury kicked 20 goals in the competition and it seemed fitting that he was also the first person to kick a goal all the way back in round 1.

The Southern Saints were the best attacking team in the competition but were pipped in the last round as the best defensive team, which went to the Western Crows.

Logan Toomer’s fifth round 14 second goal claimed him the crown of fastest goal kicker in the competition but was almost denied in the last round when Justin Gauci of the Crows kicked a goal with 23 seconds on the clock.
