Quail in his first year as coach of the Mt Roskill Saints has a good knowledge of Auckland talent that will assist greatly when matching up against opposition line ups. Warwick Kain is a mainstay of the Academy and High Performance Programmes and with over  3 years experience with Under 16 and Under 18 New Zealand representative teams, he will have background knowledge on a majority of players within the Premiership. Michael Boyce in his role as captain is also likely to undertake coaching duties.

Sucu has had great success with his local club leading them through to the 2015 AAFL Grand Final and his playing career at an International level will also be of great value to the Saints.

As Congalton prepares for the Saints for the AFL New Zealand National Draft, his focus initially is on a core base of players who will provide a basis for systems to develop.

“Initially our number one draft pick is Category 2 & 3 which involves a senior player based outside of Auckland. With the likelihood that this player will need to travel each week it will be harder to secure availability. Anyone who can compete in two thirds of the season or above is a target for us for regions outside of Auckland.”
