Sucu heads north to the Suns

2016 Premiership Best and Fairest winner, Brandon Sucu will Captain the Northern Suns for the 2022 competition.

Following Brandon’s return to New Zealand last year from a 4 year stint in Australia, Sucu was selected in the National Draft by the Central Giants in 2021 and was a key contributor in helping them win their second Premiership.

Sucu hails from Auckland’s North Shore where he represents the North Shore Tigers and was named as the inaugural AFL New Zealand Premiership Best and Fairest winner in 2016 where he was a standout for the his former club, the Southern Saints.

Brandon’s hard work and effort in defence throughout the first AFLNZ Premiership season saw him challenge every contest with a ‘never say die’ attitude. Sucu’s cool, calm demeanour in the back line seems to be at times in slow motion, yet he manages to evade tackles and select quality options, spring boarding his team out of trouble and into attack. He ranks as the best defensive player in the competition and an absolute nightmare for opposing forwards.

Brandon is a regular in the NZ Falcons lineup and can’t wait to get back out on the footy field next season. His leadership could see the Northern Suns push for Premiership honours for the first time.
