Tipene-Thomas and Phillips to stay with the Giants

Agile forwards, Te Kopa Tipene-Thomas and Brandon Phillips will stay at the Central Giants for the 2022 Men’s Premiership season.

Regional superstar Te Kopa Tipene-Thomas will be one of the key members for the Giants in 2022 after another consistent season last year.

Fast, agile and talented, the 2018 Senior Men’s player of the year will be hoping that the Giants will win back to back Premierships.

Since his New Zealand debut in April 2013, Tipene-Thomas has carved out an impressive pathway through to the Senior New Zealand team, along the way captaining the U16 New Zealand side, and being recognised as the 2014 and 2015 U16 AFL New Zealand Player of the Year.

Representing New Zealand for the second time at the 2017 AFL International Cup, the midfielder’s exceptional performance earned him a spot in World Team as one of the best 22 players at the tournament.

Brandon Phillips made a huge statement in his first season in the Premiership.

The Manurewa Raiders small forward, finished fifth in the Golden Boot award and after making several appearances in the ‘Team of the Week’, Phillips was named in the forward line for the Premiership Team of the Year.

Look for Brandon to make an even bigger impact in 2022.

The Giants open their season against the Western Crows on February 13 next year.
