Rep duo to lead the way

All Stars Vice Captain Troy Brown and NZ Falcons representative Josh Cunliffe, have been confirmed to play for the Northern Suns in the 2023 AFL New Zealand Premiership.

Brown, 27, has spent over half his life in New Zealand since moving from Australia in his youth. Six seasons in the AFL New Zealand Premiership, Grand Final victories with the Southern Saints and the Central Giants and two Grand Final flags with Auckland Club, the North Shore Tigers.

Selection for a representative match for the Premiership selection against the travelling Red Backs team in March 2020 was a highlight and he was named Vice-Captain of the NZ All Stars prior to the scheduled match cancellation in 2021.

Cunliffe, a former Premiership winner with the Southern Saints, represented New Zealand in the last edition of the AFL International Cup.  Josh has been playing the sport since 2009 after being persuaded by his friends to come and play for the North Shore Tigers in the Auckland AFL. The English born recruit has had an unusual journey culminating in New Zealand representation.

The 31 year old is a hard running small forward who loves to kick a goal. His versatility often sees him as a key defender when required.

The 2023 Premiership kicks off on February 19th.
