Justin Gauci will be the Northern Suns Head Coach, Sean Mayes to be Assistant for the 2023 Premiership season.
Justin Gauci was a foundation player for the Western Crows in 2016 before making the transition into coaching. Gauci was thrust into the role as Central Giants head coach in 2021 and after making some strong selections in the pre-season draft, he led them to their second Premiership, losing only 1 game along the way.
During his time in New Zealand, Justin has volunteered with local footy and the AFL New Zealand Youth and Academy Programme.
2020 Premiership winning coach, Sean Mayes will assist Justin at the Suns after two seasons with the Southern Saints.
Sean made his coaching debut in 2019 as an assistant and helped steer the Western Crows to their second Premiership alongside Head Coach Chris Mundell. He is also the head coach of the North Shore Tigers in the Auckland AFL competition.
The duo are currently both coaching at the North Shore Tigers, who remain undefeated through 7 Rounds of the 2022 Auckland AFL season
With plenty of experience in the coaching department, Mayes and Gauci will be hoping to steer the Suns to their first Premiership title.
