Central Giants coaching positions locked in
24 Nov, 2015
In readiness for the 2016 AFL New Zealand Premiership, the Central Giants under lead coach Shannon Wall, have added to their coaching ranks with the inclusion of Auckland based Assistant Coach Marcus Jones and Otago based Michael Bruhn.
Marcus Jones as a former Mt Roskill and New Zealand player has a strong fitness ethic that will help in preparation for the season ahead. His role as a wingman in the victorious International Cup team in 2005, involved a focus on ground coverage and aerobic capacity and with so many talented athletes in the Premiership, this could pay dividends for the Giants.

Michael Bruhn plays a massive role in a developing market within Otago. With so many of those aged between 17 to 20, moving cities and undertaking studies in Dunedin, his role with the Giants will also be of assistance for the other three fledgling teams.
Talented players entered into the draft including James McKenzie (Mt Roskill Saints and NZ Senior team), Utu Ah Kuoi (Wellington Saints and NZ Senior team), Willem vander Wilt (U18 NZ U18 team), are all examples of those transferring from other regions who will move to an Otago base.
Current Waitakere Coach and Central Giants captain David Rattenbury will no doubt add further potency to the coaching ranks for the 2016 season.
Giants coach Shannon Wall is excited with his new team and is looking forward to the commencement of selections from the AFL New Zealand National Draft.
“I’m aware of the great opportunity we have as the team with first pick in the National Draft and we won’t be wasting it.”
