AFLNZ strengthens community ties with St Kilda
28 Nov, 2019
AFL New Zealand, the St Kilda Football Club and AVJennings have further strengthened their community ties when staff from the AFL club and students from tertiary institution SEDA recently visited New Zealand to run community clinics in local Primary Schools.
It is the second year in succession that the group has visited Aotearoa and after a successful first trip in 2018, the travelling group doubled in size which saw the opportunity to deliver to more schools.
The 4 day trip was part of a school project and was completely fundraised by the students with support from St Kilda.
The group visited a number of schools over 3 days including Orewa Primary School, a suburb where AVJennings are currently developing. They delivered skills from the AFL KiwiKick programme to over 700 students.
Following their School visits, the students planned their last day to visit the sites of Auckland. From heading up the top of the Sky Tower (New Zealand’s largest building) to Bungy Jumping off the Auckland Harbour Bridge, the students enjoyed their trip to New Zealand and will be advocates for the next group to return in 2020.
Thanks to the support of the St Kilda Football Club and AVJennings.
