
2020 National Academy set to be announced

The 2020 AFL New Zealand Academy athletes are set to be announced this week in preparation for National Representation in April next year.
Academy Athletes are selected from the AFL New Zealand Youth Competition in December of each year and AFL New Zealand Academy teams play touring Australian teams in April of each year, with final selection of the AFL New Zealand Academy teams being reduced to 24 athletes at the start of March each year.
Academy athletes will participate in skill development, athletic testing and measurement, game play and personal development.
In 2020, the Mornington Peninsula Junior Football League will be returning to New Zealand at the start of April and will tour with 3 teams to play the AFL New Zealand Academy Level 1 (born 2005-2007, Level 2 (born 2003-2004) and the Youth Girls (born 2001 and below).
Opportunities arising from the AFL New Zealand Academy include, selection into New Zealand Academy teams, AFL New Zealand National Combine selection, access to talent scouts and AFL International Scholarships.
