Marshall soars over the Hawks in impressive display

08 Sep, 2020

Rowan Marshall put on a dominate display for St Kilda as he continues his rise in the AFL.

Marshall filled the void up forward in the absences of Max King and Tim Membrey, piecing together a brilliant display against the Hawks to be voted as the Silk-Miller Memorial medallist.

The Prospect wrapped up his afternoon with a handy two-goal bag, 14 disposals and eight marks (two contested) to steer the Saints into sixth position on the ladder with two games remaining.

Marshall’s vice-like hands inside-50 proved to be his most important asset, rising above the Hawthorn defenders to clunk four marks inside-50, one of which wasn’t counted on the stats sheet due to a preceding free kick to the big man.

All of the 24-year-old’s clunks inside the arc resulted in shots on goal, with the No. 19 converting two and finishing with 2.2 for the afternoon.

A classy snap put St Kilda on the board after the Hawks kicked the first three of the game, before following up his efforts in the third quarter with an important overhead grab to extend his side’s slender one-point lead.
