Auckland Council helping to deliver opportunities through Covid-19
17 Sep, 2020
AFL New Zealand would like to acknowledge the Auckland Councils’ involvement in supporting us during COVID-19.
Auckland Council have played a vital role in assisting AFLNZ with funding to ensure the national body can continue to provide opportunities for everyone within the community to play AFL.
Our online programmes were a great success during periods of limited contact, with a focus on the community to stay active during these difficult times.
Glenbrook School in Waiuku adopted the AFL KiwiKick online platform and utilised their year 7 and 8 students to deliver the programme to the junior school.
The AFL KiwiKick online platform was set up during the Covid-19 lockdown to help keep New Zealanders involved and playing AFL both at home and at School.
The programme is broken down into 6 lessons and is accompanied by online videos and instructions that help teach the fundamental skills of AFL for boys and girls between 5 to 12 years of age.
The fundamental skills of ‘Kick, Catch, Pass and Bounce’ are utilised through out the AFL KiwiKick Programme and are transferable to a wide range of sports.
