Howison remains Falcons Captain for All Stars clash
08 Jun, 2021
It has been announced that incumbent Captain, Andrew Howison will lead out the NZ Falcons against the NZ All Stars in September.
Howison has settled back into NZ footy nicely after spending 8 years living in Melbourne. The talented midfielder won the 2020 Canterbury AFL Premiership with the Mid Canterbury Eagles and was the Captain of the Central Giants, who marched to their second AFLNZ Premiership title in April this season.
Howison was excited to be able to represent NZ again.
“It’s always an honour to wear the silver fern and can’t wait to be leading out the Falcons again in September. We have been starved of International footy over the past 18 months, so it is a great opportunity that this game can happen.”
“This game not only provides an opportunity for players in NZ who aren’t eligible for national representation, but also for the next generation of Falcons stars who can put their hand up for upcoming campaigns like the Academy and International Cup.”
Whilst in Australia, Andrew played for Oakleigh Districts where he won a Grand Final in 2015 and was named best on ground in the same game.
More recently, Howison won back to back Premierships in 2018 and 2019 with the Dromana Tigers.
Andrew has won the Senior Men’s Player of the Year award for three straight years from 2014-2016.
