16 Jun, 2021

As teams prepare for the NZ Falcons vs NZ All Stars clash on September 25, guaranteed match ups have started to develop between the big boys up forward and the men charged with keeping them quiet.

Today, we look at the big forwards likely to make an impact in the inaugural match to be played on AFL Grand Final Day and tomorrow those in charge of the donuts (the defenders, trying to keep the forwards to zero goals).

James Southby

2021 Golden Boot winner, James Southby will be one of the key forwards in the Falcons vs All Stars match.

James has kicked 45 goals in 3 seasons playing in the Premiership and you can expect him to do big things on September 25th.

James plays for the Mid Canterbury Eagles in the Canterbury AFL and is a strong mark who has an accurate boot in front of goal.

Harley Jenkins

2020 AFL New Zealand Premiership Golden Boot winner Harley Jenkins will be a hard man to stop in September.

Harley has kicked 54 goals in three seasons playing in the Premiership and averages 3 goals per game.

The key forward is ‘an absolute gun’ on the footy field and is a natural athlete with a superb vertical leap.

Jenkins is strong in the air and is knows how to take strong contested marks.

Brendan Clark

Brendan was one of the shining lights for the Crows in 2021 and brings experience and culture to any side.

Clark is a strong marking forward who has the experience to get the better of his opposition.

He has spent time in Australia playing for the Hinterland Football Club and Maroochydore on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast and the Darwin Buffaloes and NT Thunder in the Northern Territory.

Alex Fakatoumafi

Alex is a strong presence in the forward line. An International Cup winner, Alex is a key forward, who commands the football.

Alex has played a key role up front for the Saints in 2018, 2019 and 2021 and knows how to kick a goal.

One of Alex’s highligthts in his Premiership career was kicking a whopping 10 goals for the match against the Western Crows in round 9 of 2018.
