Lion Foundation provides assistance to AFL New Zealand in 2023/24

AFL New Zealand would like to acknowledge and thank the Lion Foundation for their support in the development of AFL within New Zealand.

Thanks to the Lion Foundation’s financial backing, AFL New Zealand has been able to continue to engage communities and allow them to thrive through our programmes that reach individuals of all ages and backgrounds nationwide. Their support has not only provided operational stability but has helped secure our headquarters at Sports House, North Harbour Stadium Albany, serving as the nerve centre for our dedicated full-time staff and essential equipment storage.

With the Lion Foundation’s investment, we’ve been able to extend our reach to regions like Waitakere, North Shore, Auckland Central, Counties Manukau, Northland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin, breaking down barriers and introducing AFL to kids aged 5 to 12 through initiatives like the AFL KiwiKick Programme. Through training local volunteers and providing necessary resources, we’re ensuring AFL is accessible to all, regardless of socio-economic status or background.

As we look to the future, AFL New Zealand remains committed to delivering high-quality programs that promote physical activity and youth development. With the continued partnership of the Lion Foundation, we are confident in our ability to expand our impact and create lasting positive change within communities across Aotearoa.
