New Zealand Seniors
The New Zealand Senior Men’s side represents AFL New Zealand as its premier team and plays against a selection of touring Australian teams as well participating in the International Cup every three years.
New Zealand last won the AFL International Cup in 2005 defeating Papua New Guinea in the Grand Final played at the MCG in front of 30,000 people.
Is open to all male players currently playing in the AFLNZ Premiership or with a club in Australia. New Zealand’s next fixture is the Australian Under 17 team, played in April at Westpac Stadium, Wellington.
New Zealand U18’s
Is for players born 1998 and 1999 currently playing AFLNZ Youth Boys Competition and AFLNZ Premiership. These players will be looking to take the next step through their U18 experience targeting the New Zealand Senior side in 2018. Those selected in the New Zealand U18’s will tour Melbourne, Victoria hosted by the Mornington Peninsula Junior Football League, associating with clubs and playing against a local team in May 2018.
AFL New Zealand Academy Level 2
Is for players continuing their New Zealand representative pathway with their next step the New Zealand U18’s or the Senior New Zealand side. Players of the AFLNZ Youth Boys programme born years 2000 and 2001 are eligible for selection in the AFL New Zealand Academy Level 2 squad. With a two match series campaign against Mornington Peninsula Junior Football League, 21st – 24th April 2017. The games will be at Hutt Park on April 22nd and Wellington Stadium on April 24th 2017.
AFL New Zealand Academy Level 1
Is for players that are new entrants to New Zealand representative pathway. Players of the AFLNZ Youth Boys programme born year 2001 and younger are eligible for selection in the AFL New Zealand Academy Level 1 squad. With a two match series against New South Wales Independent Schools, 21st – 24th April 2017 at Hutt Park, Wellington.
