Each week throughout the 2018 Premiership season, AFL New Zealand will announce the ‘Team of the week’ which will feature the 24 best players from the previous weekends round.
It is fitting that this week’s team features the newly crowned Central Giants Captain Sam McKenzie who led his side to their first ever Premiership.
Shane Leat holds down a position in defence as he makes his seventh appearance in a row and is joined by the consistent Ryan White (Crows), Nick Rhodes (Giants), Nico Donnell-Brown (Saints), Chris Bailey (Giants) and Northern Suns Captain James Kusel.
The midfield is full of superstars as it features five New Zealand squad members (Jackson Clince, Ty Smith, Jay Johnson, Andrew Howison and Carlos Donnell-Brown) from the 2017 International Cup.
Four goal performances from Josh Sedgwick (Suns), Brad Wade (Crows) and Declan Crann (Giants) has earned them a spot in the forward line.
