2018 National Draft date announced

The 2018 AFL New Zealand National Draft will take place Wednesday November 28th and will see all players placed into one of three list categories.

 

Highlighting the logistics of the competition and scheduling at QBE Stadium, the list categories are determined by age and regions throughout New Zealand.

 

The three categories involved are: 

Category 1: AFL New Zealand Academy Graduates
Category 2: Auckland based players
Category 3: Regional based players

 

Nick Rhodes was picked up late in last year’s draft and went on to become the Giants Best & Fairest in his debut season.

The National Draft pick order will be released closer to the evening.All four AFL New Zealand Premiership Head Coaches will link together as they look to commence work on their respective player rosters for the 2019 AFL New Zealand Premiership commencing February 17th at QBE Stadium in Auckland.

The draft will be live via social media.
