Each week throughout the 2019 Premiership season, AFL New Zealand will announce the ‘Team of the week’ which will feature the 24 best players from the previous weekends round.
The team of the week for round 5 features a raft of experience and youth.
Down back, Al Maisey (Crows) makes his third appearance in as many weeks and is joined by Saints best on ground Andrew Bissett and team mate Jalan Farris. Young defender Liam Mayes from the Suns had a solid game and was rewarded with a spot in the side for the first time this season.
The midfield is stacked full of talent headlined by Carlos Donnell-Brown (Saints) who had his best game of the season. The two Jay’s (Johnson and Green) from the Crows are also included for another week and Suns Captain Ben Hick makes it 2 in a row after his superb performance over the weekend.
A 6 goal performance from Sam Anderson (Crows) sees him included in the forward line along development player Caleb Macpherson from Christchurch who showed his potential up front for the Suns.
