Each week throughout the 2019 Premiership season, AFL New Zealand will announce the ‘Team of the week’ which will feature the 24 best players from the previous weekends round.
Nick Rhodes (Giants) makes his sixth appearance in defence for the Round 8 team of the week after putting in another huge effort against the Sun’s. Rhodes is joined by Sun’s best on ground Josh Mackie and Ryan White and Alastair Maisey from the Crows.
Sun’s Captain Ben Hick headlines the midfield after another stellar performance. Crow’s ruckman Ty smith returns to the side along with his Captain Jay Johnson.
Saints forward Alex Fakatoumafi was the rounds leading goal kicker to earn his spot. Sun’s forwards Reed Cathcart and Max Urwin round out the forward line.
The 2019 AFL New Zealand Team of the Year will be announced at the Grand Final Breakfast on Sunday morning.
