2021 Premiership Form Guide: Northern Suns

The Northern Suns were slow out of the blocks in 2020, but with a host of new draftees, the Suns will look to start strong as they strive for their first Premiership.

The Suns drafted NZ Falcons, Reed Cathcart, Josh Allen, Josh Morgan-Ranui and Vandyn Hartman along with exciting players in Louis Foster and Coby Dodd.

If the Suns can jell early, expect them to run hot throughout the whole season.

Player to watch: Louis Foster

Louis is new to the game of AFL and is playing in his first season after his transition from Rugby League.

This fearless utility has picked up the game like possibly never before seen. From breaking tackles, and kicking goals with both feet, or taking high marks.

Louis won the Canterbury AFL Premiership with the Mid Canterbury Eagles in 2020.

Head Coach Adem Manderovic is excited to bring Louis into his squad for 2021.

“Louis is new to the game, but don’t let that fool you. He is an excitement machine and has achieved so much this season already. I can’t wait to see what he can do in the top competition.”

Get Excited: Paul Hogan

Paul Hogan has been a star defender in his first two seasons for the Northern Suns.

Normally positioned at Centre Half Back, Hogan is very fit and mobile and reads the game well and has been named in the Premiership Team of the Year in both 2019 and 2020.

The 2019 Northern Suns Best and Fairest winner plays for the Eastern Blues in the Canterbury AFL has a background in Gaelic Football.

A strong mark and a great attitude are Paul’s best attributes and he will be hard to stop in defence in 2021.
