The Southern Saints were unstoppable in 2020, claiming their second Premiership title. As they look to become the first side to win back to back, we take a look at their squad.
With the core group of players returning this season, expect the Saints to make the Grand Final.
Player to watch: Andrew Bisset
The 2020 Premiership Best and Fairest winner put together a stellar season and was pivotal in the Saints Premiership win.
Andrew is a strong defender and is also a great runner of the football. Hardly beaten in a one on one contest, the 27 year old has hopes of one day representing the New Zealand Falcons.
Bisset plays for the Wellington City Saints in the Wellington league.
Get Excited: James Kusel
Hailing from Wellington, James was the inaugural Captain of the Northern Suns from 2016-2018 where his best achievement was leading them to second place in 2017.
Having spent some time away from the game in 2018, James returned in 2020 and was picked up by the Southern Saints in the national draft.
James has represented New Zealand at the 2017 International Cup and played a key role in the midfield which saw the national side reach the Grand Final, played on the MCG.
