AAFL stars to remain at the Saints in 2018

The Southern Saints have announced that they will add Auckland based players Keegan McAuley, Justin Du Toit, Nico Donnell-Brown and Lachlan Kennedy to their retained players list for the 2018 AFL New Zealand Premiership.

The players have been retained through Category 1 of the Retained Players List (RPL): Retention of Auckland based players who have not played for the New Zealand Senior team over the past 12 months.

Keegan McAuley

The Southern Saints have retained the services of Aucklander Keegan McAuley for the 2018 AFL New Zealand Premiership.

Mcauley was a class performer during this year’s competition and featured multiple times in the ‘Team of the Week’ and boasts professionalism and maturity when on the footy field.

Keegan plays for the North Shore Tigers in the Auckland local competition where his development continues as he prepares for the return to New Zealand’s Premier AFL competition in February.

Justin Du Toit

Justin Du Toit will play in his seconds season with the Southern Saints in 2018.

The physical defender, who plays alongside Keegan McAuley at the North Shore Tigers will bolster the star studded Saints backline which includes big names such as Michael Boyce and Andriu Sucu.

Nico Donnell-Brown

Aucklander Nico Donnell-Brown will be a Southern Saint in 2018.

The hard running roving forward was retained by the Premiership side for his slick skills and fast pace and will be a key player for coach Warwick Kain and the Saints forward line.

Nico will once again suit up with his brother and Waitakere Magpies team mate Carlos as the pair look to defend their 2017 Premiership title.

Lachlan Kennedy

New Zealand U18 representative Lachlan Kennedy has been retained by the Southern Saints.

Recently just turned 18 years old, Kennedy gained a huge amount of experience playing in his debut season in 2017 and will be a handy forward who can take strong marks.
