AFL New Zealand would like to thank the AFL for sending staff to assist with the delivery of in-school programmes and to provide additional training for our in-school deliverers.
Over the past two weeks, with the support of the AFL, AFL New Zealand has delivered AFL skills sessions to 3,000 students across Auckland, spanning both primary and secondary schools. An AFL staff member travelled over to help facilitate training for our in-school deliverers and to demonstrate how school programmes are run in Australia.
These two weeks represent a significant first step in the future direction of AFL New Zealand—strengthening our relationship with the AFL while also providing valuable insights to help us enhance opportunities for young people to experience AFL. AFLNZ will now take the learnings from this period and apply them to existing in-school programmes, continuing development in Auckland before expanding to other major regions.
