AFL New Zealand Annual General Meeting 2014 Information

Please be advised of the following details for the AGM and Members Forum. The AGM will be held in conjunction with the Under 16 National Championships, held on March 22nd and 23rd 2014.

Venue:            Stop Out Soccer Club, Seaview Rd, Hutt Park, Lower Hutt

Time:               5.00pm AGM,  6.00pm Members Forum



Please advise of your clubs nominated delegate and availability for the AGM so flights can be organized accordingly.


Elected Director Process

The Board is now calling for nominations for the following position.

One Elected Director (Up to a three year term).

The AFL New Zealand Board is responsible for overseeing the promotion, fostering and development of the sport of Australian Football in New Zealand and to provide Australian Football opportunities for all within NZ as described in the society’s current strategic and operational plan.

Interested persons must be nominated by a club in writing firstly and then submit a brief profile via email with resume to the address listed below by 5pm Friday 21st of February 2014.


As outlined in clause 7 of the AFL New Zealand Constitution and Rules, a list of nominees for the position under Rule 6.1 (a) [Elected Directors] together with a summary of their curriculum vitae will be forwarded on the 7th of March 2014 to all members.


Nominations are to be received in writing within the specified time and in the form prescribed by the Board of Directors.


Mr. Tim Stevens retires in accordance with the above Rule and will need to seek reappointment. The election of the vacant Directorship will take place at the AGM by way of vote (secret ballot).

Please note that members must have met their governance and financial commitments to be entitled to vote.

Business of Meeting


Please be advised that any remits / motions to be considered at the AGM must be submitted in writing to the Chief Executive Officer no later than 5pm on Friday 21st of February 2014.


Life Membership


Please be advised that any Life memberships to be considered at the AGM must be submitted in writing to the Chief Executive Officer no later than 5pm on Friday 21st of February 2014.


 A list of remits and motions will be forwarded to all members along with a copy of the AGM agenda , a copy of the Annual Report, a copy the audited financial accounts and Proxy voting forms on the 7th March 2014 to all members.


Forum Topics


All submissions regarding topics for discussion will be forwarded to members with a timely agenda set ( due to flight commitments ) and specific members called on to lead discussions. The AFL New Zealand Board will finalise the forum discussion topics before the 7th of March 2014. The items will be chaired by Geoff Dickson (AFL New Zealand Chair) to ensure timeliness of the agenda.
