AFLW preparing for another big season

Season 8 of AFLW is closing in and the competition is set to have another big year, with plenty of squad changes after a huge trade period. Some of our NZ Heritage players were among the big names to move to different clubs

In a blockbusting move, Season 7’s leading goalkicker and NZ Heritage star, Jesse Wardlaw has moved to the Saints as part of a series of big trades for the club. After a successful season at the Brisbane Lions, Jesse will be battling it out as the sole Key Forward at St Kilda.

Serena Gibbs and Brooke Walker have both moved on form Carlton, with Serena going to Freemantle and Brooke, going to Essendon, leaving fellow heritage players, Mua Laloifi and Breann Moody behind.

Reigning Premiers Melbourne are sitting pretty, managing to only lose players through retirement and de-listing. Daisy Pearce, who was huge for the club has retired but, Melbourne are happy with the squad they have and are ready to make their run at back to back premierships, with NZ Heritage star Lauren Pearce leading the way
