Applications are now open for the role of AFL New Zealand Academy Level 1, Level 2 and Youth Girls Coach and Assistant Coach for 2020 season.
The AFL New Zealand Academy runs from February to April each year and will improve the skills and fitness of athletes, through a training and development programme.
AFL New Zealand Academy Level 1
Is for players that are new entrants to New Zealand representative pathway. Players of the AFL New Zealand Youth Competition turning 15 and younger the year the competition commences are eligible for selection in the AFL New Zealand Academy Level 1 squad. With a two match series against a touring Australian team April of each year.
AFL New Zealand Academy Level 2
Is for players continuing their New Zealand representative pathway with their next step New Zealand U18 or New Zealand Seniors. Players of the AFL New Zealand Youth competition turning 16 the year the competition commences are eligible for selection in the AFL New Zealand Academy Level 2 squad. With a two match series against a touring Australian team April of each year.
New Zealand U18 Youth Girls
The New Zealand U18 Youth Girls is for players selected from a series of Combine testing, trials, participation in the AFL New Zealand Youth Competition and AFL New Zealand Academy who turn 18 or younger in the year the Youth competition commences. Those selected in the New Zealand U18 Youth Girls will play a two match series against a touring Australian side April of each year. Several of these players will be working towards selection in the AFLW U18 National Championships in Australia, May of each year.
Academy Athletes are selected from the AFL New Zealand Youth Competition December of each year with each level containing up to 30 athletes. AFL New Zealand Academy teams play touring Australian teams, April each year, with final selection of the AFL New Zealand Academy teams being reduced to 24 athletes at the start of April each year.
Your current geographic location is not an impediment for this position.
