Applications are now open for the role of AFL New Zealand Senior Women’s Assistant Coaches for 2020.
The New Zealand Senior Men’s and Women’s team represents AFL New Zealand as its premier teams. The Men plays against the touring AFL Academy in April each year and both sides participate in the International Cup every three years.
Historically, the International Cup has taken place in Melbourne with the final taking place at the MCG. New Zealand has competed in the Men’s competition in every year the tournament has taken place since its inception in 2002.
The lowest it has placed in the 6 tournaments to date is third, with the highlights, a single victory in 2005 and two close losses to arch rivals Papua New Guinea by 7 points in 2008 and most recently by a single point at the MCG final in 2017.
In 2020, AFL New Zealand will field a National Women’s team for the very first time at the International Cup to be held in the Sunshine Coast during July and August next year.
