Assistant gets the top job at the Suns

2019 Northern Suns Assistant Coach Adem Manderovic will take over the top job in 2020 after he was announced as the Head Coach for next year’s AFL New Zealand Premiership season.

Manderovic had his first taste of the Premiership in 2019 as Assistant Coach under former New Zealand player James Bowden.

His coaching development continues to progress and showed attributes and desire to take on the role of Head Coach.

The Sun’s are the only side in the national competition not to have won the title and showed their potential late in the season last year after they were decimated by injury early on.

Adem is the current coach of the Mid Canterbury Eagles in the Canterbury AFL and is excited to get stuck in.

“The partnership with James Bowden and I paid off in spades working closely with the leadership group at the Northern Suns in 2019 and that is something we more than look forward to continuing in 2020.”

Manderovic will work alongside Captain Ben Hick during the pre season to recruit new players in the upcoming national draft as they prepare for the upcoming season.
