Last week, a community Kiwikick programme run in conjuction with the I Love Avondale Community Hub at Eastdale Reserve concluded, providing 19 kids with a funded 5 week programme, teaching the kids how to play AFL.
Following on from a school holiday programme with I Love Avondale, AFL New Zealand and ILAD (I Love Avondale) worked together to bring more opportunities for kids in the Avondale community to participate and play AFL through the Kiwikick afterschool programme. The 5 week programme taught participants all the skills they would need to play AFL, and rules associated with the game, gradually working their way into a game of AFL. Every participant also recieved an AFL ball and a bag, so they can continue to work on their AFL skills.
