Canterbury rising star leads long list of exciting draftees

Developing AFL athlete Caleb Macpherson will be considered as one of the top picks in this years national draft when the  four Premiership sides finalise their squads in late November.

 

From Papanui High School in Christchurch, Macpherson played a number of games in the 2019 Premiership as a development player. His efforts playing for the Western Crows during round 5 earned him the Rising Star Award after a strong performance playing in the forward line. Caleb was also selected into the the ‘Team of the Week’ for that round.

Standing at 195cm, Macpherson represented New Zealand for the level 2 Academy side before getting selected for the New Zealand U18 side to travel to Melbourne earlier this year.

Caleb plays for the Christchurch Bulldogs in the Canterbury League and was first introduced to sport via the AFL Cup Secondary Schools competition and with continual skill development, Macpherson will become a key forward in next year’s Premiership which begin on February 9th at North Harbour Stadium in Albany.
